Ms. Martin studied at the Sorbonne and spent 5 years teaching at Greenville College in Illinois prior to coming to UTA in 1997 to work as supervisor of lower division French. Ms. Martin's interests include sociolinguistics, language learning, and cultural anthropology. She has lived in Brazil, so she speaks Portuguese and is working on learning Italian.

Mr. Carpenter has studied at the Université de Montpellier and was a lecturer in English at the Université de Nice. He has taught French at both the university and secondary levels and serves as one of the undergraduate advisors for the Modern Language Department. He is also a reviewer and contributing writer for Holt, Rinehart, and Winston Publishers.

Ms. Dodd spent two years in Southern France before finishing her B.A. and then spent her summers in France while working on her Masters. She also spent a year in Lorraine, France, teaching English to French children at a primary school. Her interests include cartooning (amateur!), singing, exercise, and traveling abroad whenever she can.

Ms. Rushing has taught French at the secondary level in Arlington, Texas. She has enjoyed traveling in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Ms. Soueid returned to UTA for her Master's in French after receiving a B.B.A. in Accounting as an undergraduate. In addition to French, she has studied Latin and Arabic and is currently studying Spanish. She has traveled in both Europe and the Middle East and has taught at the primary, secondary, and university levels.
