UTA Study in Paris Dossier: Transport, Hotel, and Other Practical Information

Getting from Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport to the Hotel

Gare de Lyon in Paris, France
From the airport you have quite a few options, but I recommend taking the Air France Bus. Depending when you get in, you can take this bus to the Gare de Lyon train station. This train station is quite near our hotel. From this station, take a very short taxi ride to the hotel, or you can take the métro from here—it is only one stop. You can walk, but if you have luggage...

Le Bus Air France Le Bus Air France (Line 4): Paris CDG Airport—Gare de Lyon/Montparnasse (Left Bank)

  • Takes you from Paris CDG Airport to Gare de Lyon (stop in front of the main entrance, 50m bellow the clock-tower) and then on to Gare Montparnasse on the Left Bank.
  • Leaves from well-marked, easy-to-find points at Paris CDG Airport and from the front of the rail stations Gare de Lyon and Gare Montparnasse (Le Meridien-Montparnasse Hotel).
  • Services all airlines and departures. Baggage handlers are available at each stop. The air-conditioned coaches are very comfortable and feature a video.
  • Fares:
    • 11.50 euro one-way
    • 19.55 euro round-trip
  • Times:
    • From Paris CDG Airport: Every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
    • From Gare de Lyon/Montparnasse: Every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

If for some reason you can't take the bus to Gare de Lyon (it may not run on Sunday, for example, or you might arrive after 9:00 p.m.), you can take the bus to Étoile. Once you get there, you take the métro (a bit longer ride but still direct—see métro directions below).

Le Bus Air France: Paris CDG Airport—Porte Maillot/Étoile (Right Bank)

  • Takes you from Paris CDG Airport to Étoile. Get off at Étoile and not Porte Maillot, where the bus stops first. However, if you do, you can still take the métro directly to the hotel.
  • Times: From Paris CDG Airport: Every 12 minutes from 5:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Roissybus

There is also a public transport called Roissybus. This will let you off at Opéra Garnier in the center of Paris. The métro is not direct from here, and you will have to change lines. Taking Le Bus Air France is easier.

Paris RER

Commuter train at the Gare de LyonThe Paris RER is also an option. If you opt for the RER,

  • Take Line B from Paris CDG Airport.
  • Get off at the Châtelet station.
  • Take the métro correspondence (line 1, direction Château de Vincennes) to the Reuilly-Diderot stop.
  • Your RER ticket (approximately 8 euros) is also valid for the métro.

Taxi

If you decide to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, it will cost about 50 euros (about $60), plus tip (10%), but it will be much easier and more comfortable—and much pricier. Make sure to have the cash in euros.
