Alicia Rueda-Acedo received her Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005. She holds a Licenciatura (B.A) in Journalism from the University of Seville and a Licenciatura in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada (Spain). Dr. Rueda-Acedo has been certified as a translator by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and she is the Director of the Certificate in Translation Studies. Her research interests include 20th–21st century Spanish and Mexican Literature, Film and Culture, Women's Studies, and Literary Journalism. She has published and has forthcoming articles on 20th–21st Century Hispanic Literature and Transatlantic Studies. She is now completing a book that examines the relationship between the journalistic and literary work of Elena Poniatowska and Rosa Montero.
