Dr. Amy Austin received her Ph.D. in 2004 from Emory University. Her area of specialization is medieval and early modern peninsular literature. Her research focuses on the practices and theories of medieval reading, mysticism and spiritual constructions, visual studies, and bestiaries and animal imagery.
Dr. Austin has recently published an article in the;Bulletin of the Comediantes on gender and theatricality in Spanish minor theater. She is currently revising articles on Fernando de Rojas Celestina and Teresa de Cartagena's Arboleda de los enfermos, as well as completing a book-length manuscript on Ramon Llull, translatio and Jewish, Christian, and Muslim interactions in medieval Iberia.
