Application Procedures

 

For information on the program, attend the following meetings:

  • Fall Study Abroad Fair
    September 26, 2007 in Palo Duro Lounge, University Center from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. or
  • Spring Study Abroad Fair
    February 6, 2008 in Palo Duro Lounge, University Center from 11:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. or
  • Valladolid Program Informational Meeting
    February 13, 2008 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm in 200 Trimble Hall.
  1. Download the UT Arlington Spanish in Valladolid Application (PDF). Applications are also available in the Department of Modern Languages Office, 230 Hammond Hall.

  2. Fill out application and submit it in paper format, along with transcript, and statement of purpose, to Dr. Sonia Kania, 230 Hammond Hall. Deadline: March 7, 2008.

  3. At the time the application is due, a non-refundable deposit of $250 must also be made. If for any reason the program is cancelled or if the student is not accepted to participate on the program, the deposit will be returned. Make checks payable to: Spain Summer Program.

  4. Students will make usual arrangements for payment of UTA tuition.

  5. The remainder of the program cost (Program Fee, Processing Fee, and Room and Board, less $250 deposit) is due on June 27, 2008. Make checks payable to: Spain Summer Program.

  6. All students are required to attend an orientation session prior to departure. The orientation will be scheduled in late April. Exact date, time, and place TBA.

  7. Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements for flight to Spain. Students may be able to travel with the Program Director or Assistant Program Director, in which case, s/he will make her travel information available to all those who wish to book travel on the same flights. Alternatively, students will be advised to book travel on specific recommended flights in order to travel with other program participants.

  8. Bus transportation from Barajas Airport in Madrid to Valladolid will be arranged for students travelling with program director and/or with group. Those travelling by themselves must arrive in Valladolid by July 6.

  9. Students must also apply for a passport if they do not already have one. Applications are available online at the U.S. Department of State Web site. It is highly recommended that students begin the application process as soon as possible after notification of acceptance. 

  10. Please consult UTA's International Office Web site for further resources and information on studying abroad, including applications for International Student ID cards (if desired) and scholarships.  Other scholarship opportunities include the Tony Litsey Memorial Scholarship for qualified Spanish majors.
