Summer II, 2008

Universitas Castellae

 

Daytime view of Valladolid Plaza Study Spanish in Valladolid, Spain, a city of 400,000 inhabitants located in Old Castile (2.5 hours northwest of Madrid) and known for the purest castellano. Live in a residencia universitaria (student residence hall) or with a Spanish family and completely immerse yourself in the language and culture of Spain. Classes are conducted in Spanish at the Universitas Castellae, a private academic institution dedicated to research and the teaching of Spanish language and culture to foreign students.

The Department of Modern Languages at UT Arlington is offering the following courses in Valladolid, Spain for five weeks during Summer Session II, from July 4 through August 9, 2008:

Spanish 3303 Advanced Conversation
Spanish 3314 Advanced Grammar
Spanish 3311 Spanish Culture and Civilization
Spanish 3391 Conference Course
Spanish 4335 Business Spanish

Courtyard in ValladolidThe conference course is offered for students who have already completed Spanish 3303, Spanish 3314, or Spanish 3311. The emphasis is Hispanic Literature, with other possibilities, depending on the needs of the student. Students may combine courses, such as 3303 and 3314, 3303 and 3311, 3314 and 3311, or take one of the previous courses with 3391. Advanced students can enroll in Spanish 4335. The maximum number of credit hours is six.

Specific information about requirements (departmental as well as those of the International Office) and costs of tuition, travel, room and board, etc., will be provided at an informational meeting on February 13, 2008.
